Hello, Runners!

2027 marks the sixth edition of the Makassar Half Marathon (MHM), following the event’s return in 2022. The experiences and developments throughout the past five years have helped shape and strengthen MHM 2027. Like a sailing vessel, MHM is our proud Phinisi. Whatever happens, this Phinisi must sail with dignity, carrying Makassar’s good name to every corner of the country and to the international stage.

Building on everything achieved so far, the MHM Phinisi is being steered toward continued growth and global recognition. One step is to pursue world-class racecourse measurement through Course Measurement by World Athletics. The course measurement process will also be sanctioned by PASI. These steps are intended to support the pursuit of an international label, or World Athletics Label, at a later stage.

These efforts aim to help Makassar become the first city in Indonesia to officially host a world-class road race. This would be a proud achievement for the Makassar City Government and would also contribute to the city’s economy.

MHM 2027’s tagline is “One City. One Pulse.” It reflects the energy MHM has brought to the city in previous editions. Thousands—and at times tens of thousands—of runners have come from different regions, other cities, other islands, and overseas. Many people have spontaneously celebrated MHM in their own unique ways. This is an organically growing pulse that deserves continued encouragement and room to develop. MHM is therefore more than a running race: it is a sports-tourism destination that builds an empowerment ecosystem through road running. In 2026, the first official Economic Impact Analysis Survey recorded an estimated IDR 52.3 billion in economic circulation in Makassar over five days.

This year’s race categories once again include the Half Marathon, 10K, and Kid Dash. Registration will open in several tiers. As a sign of MHM’s strong connection with Makassar and its positive collaboration with the City Government through the Youth and Sports Office, registration will launch on Makassar City’s anniversary, alongside the Sunday Market event on 1 November 2026.

Runners, make sure you join by choosing from the available categories: HM, 10K, Triple Medal Challenge, Student, and Kid Dash. Registration for Kid Dash will open later, with details to be announced through MHM’s official social media channels.

Awards and winners will again be determined in the Open, National, and Masters classes for both HM and 10K. The Masters class has two age groups: 40+ and 50+. Awards will also be available for the Student and Kid Dash categories.

The race venue will once again be Anjungan Pantai Losari. The route will pass key landmarks around Makassar. Remember the long but memorable stretch of Jalan Latimojong? Get ready! Centre Point of Indonesia (CPI) will once again host the Kid Dash course.

The event will run over three days: Kid Dash on 28 May 2027, 10K on 29 May 2027, and Half Marathon on 30 May 2027. Race Pack Collection will take place from 27–29 May 2027.

As part of MHM’s distinctive character, entertainment will be provided throughout the event, including local cultural and artistic performances on the main stage. Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) will also be present at Anjungan Pantai Losari during MHM.
